Last week, Productions Company performed the musical You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Productions Company is the advanced acting class at THS. The musical showed on November 9, 10, and the 12, with a “Cookies and Juice Matinee” on Saturday the tenth. This show was a great hit. The attendance for most of the nights exceeded expectations, and many people remarked that they had a very good time.

Most people have read the Peanuts comic strip by Charles Schultz. If they haven’t, they’ve probably heard about Charlie Brown, one of the most recognizable characters in the world. Peanuts ran for nearly 50 years without interruption and appeared in more than 2,600 newspapers in 75 countries. Good ol’ Charlie Brown, lovable loser.

We interviewed Cory Horton, junior, about the play.

Q: What do you think about the play Charlie Brown?

Cory: I think it’s a great family show. There’s a lot of jokes for everybody; there’s some that parents get and there’s some that kids get. It’s just an all-around good show.

Q: What do you think about Charlie Brown, the character?
Cory: The character. That I played. *laughs* He’s a very depressing child, but he’s also a very deep character that, you know… I don’t think anyone is Charlie Brown, but we’ve all had our Charlie Brown moments, so we can relate to him on some level.

The staff of Timberwolf Times also talked to Ms. Haynie, the student teacher for the drama teacher and director, Mrs. Broberg.

Ms. Haney: I have just loved seeing it come together. I think plays are just kind of magical; you see all the little pieces… It’s just really fun to see it come into a show, with everything coming together, the props, the costumes, the set, the dancing, all of it becoming one coherent production.

And finally, we talked to Mrs. Broberg.

Q: Are you pleased with how it has come together?

Mrs. Broberg: Absolutely.

Q: What has been your favorite part or theme of the show?

Mrs. Broberg: I really like Charlie Brown because it’s a really fun, feel-good show.

To get to the point where it was, members of Productions Company stayed from 2:30 to 5:00 after school, every day of last week.

Much of the talent that made this play what it was came from the music. Kevin Judd, senior, Josh Larsen, senior, and Ryan Schade played the piano, bass, and drums, respectively. And they played excellently.

Along with the members of Productions Company, most of them stayed after school for a long time after school, day after day, and their sacrifice added to the play hugely.

Behind the wonderful choreography was Dani Gull, the music was amazing because of Cherry Ness, and it all came together due to Mrs. Broberg, the director of the play, and Denise Gull, her assistant director.

That doesn’t even include the marvelous technical workers behind the scenes, and the people who painted the sets.

All these great people banded together along with the cast, and they made it a fantastic show for everybody.

  • This is sooooo much better than how productions were reviewed in last year’s paper. Thank you for that.
