What do others think of Timpanogos?

by Amber Phillips
Timpanogos has been accused of being the “prep-school,” “snob hill,” and “the rich school”. We asked some students from other schools in our area to get a wide perspective. Do other schools feel that Timp is a stereotypical snob school? Or do other schools see another side of our egotistical outsides?

Traffic jam on 700 Hall

by Michael Lanham
Every day at Timpanogos High School, there are at least two cases of cardiac arrest.
Students wait in their first class with eager anticipation for the bell to signal the move to second period. When it sounds, the bell awakens the lifeblood of the school. The hallways, like arteries and veins, fill with movement. [...]

Lame excuses

by Janie Allred
These days at school, with the strict ARC policy, often resolutely unmoving teachers, and  brutal classroom competition, students have to come up with better excuses than “The dog ate my homework,” when things do not go as planned.
And things really can go awry.

Gay rights: battle of our generation?

By Emma Cano
Each decade seems to have its defining moment, a controversy that marks it in history as a way to be remembered. The 30s had the depression, the 60s the Civil Rights Movement, and the 70s had its free spirited anti-war youth. What movement would be the one that defines our generation [...]

Snooping parents

By Adam Amor
When senior Rebecca Cho dumped her school stuff in her bedroom, she noticed that her trash can had been emptied. This seems innocent enough, unless the trash can emptier also steals personal items.

Letter to the Editor

In this last school newspaper, three articles in it, I felt were not relating to the real problems that had been going on.
One, the wrestling article, I do not think that two seniors should have a say-so for the uniforms. Modesty, yes, it is great that it should apply, but it [...]

Cell phones in school

By Ben Hartshorn
Let me guess, you have a cell phone. How did I know? In the U.S. alone, over 150 million people have cell phones, so chances of you having one are pretty good. If you have one, I am also guessing that you use it in class when you are not supposed to. Many [...]

Profanity down the halls

By Justin Greer
Profanity is everywhere.
It’s in the media: books, music, movies and television.  It can be heard on the news, in the White House, on the streets and in the supermarket.
It can also be heard in the halls of THS.

According to a recent survey, of the 47 percent of THS students that drive to school 53 percent own their own car. Other students said [...]
